HIBAPRESS – Mohamed Manflouti
The Moroccan Journalists' Syndicate commended the step taken by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which involved resorting to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Football (FIFA), against the backdrop of events and unsportsmanlike behavior that marred the match between the Moroccan national team and its Senegalese counterpart.
The aforementioned syndicate considered in a statement, a copy of which was received by HIBAPRESS, that this approach reflects the Royal Moroccan Football Federation's keenness to defend the rights of national football, uphold the principle of justice and sports transparency, and respect the laws and regulations in force continentally and internationally, away from the logic of chaos or imposing a fait accompli. The Moroccan Journalists' Syndicate affirmed that Morocco, which has succeeded in organizing the Africa Cup of Nations in a professional and honorable atmosphere, remains faithful to the values of sportsmanship and fair competition, which requires firmly addressing any practices that harm the image of African football or affect the credibility of its institutions. The aforementioned syndicate also stressed the importance of resorting to the competent official institutions, and at the same time, it calls on the various media actors to be responsible and professional in addressing this file, and to avoid being drawn into malicious interpretations or discourses that fuel tension. This and the Moroccan Journalists' Syndicate renewed its support for all initiatives aimed at protecting the image of Moroccan and African sports, and consolidating the culture of law and respect inside and outside the stadiums.
