The Secretariat of State in charge of Maritime Fisheries announced today, Tuesday, that the ban on collecting and marketing shellfish collected in the classified area for shellfish farming, Sidi Boufdayel, belonging to the Tiznit region, has been lifted.
A statement from the Secretariat of State in charge of Maritime Fisheries explained that "the technical committee in charge of monitoring the marine environment and shellfish, studied the results of the analyzes conducted by the National Institute for Fisheries Research, at the level of the classified area Sidi Boufdayel for shellfish farming," adding that these results showed stability in the environment and complete purification of shellfish in this region. Based on that, the sector recommended that consumers of this product obtain shellfish that are packaged and bear only health labels, which are marketed at licensed points of sale (official markets). The Secretariat of State warned that shellfish collected or sold randomly do not have any guarantees regarding their edibility and pose a risk to public health.
