As part of consolidating the principles of spatial justice and solidifying social gains, the governor of Meknes Prefecture, Abdelghani Essabar, supervised an official ceremony on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the prefecture headquarters, dedicated to the delivery of a number of mortuary transport vehicles and ambulances for the benefit of a group of territorial communities in the region.
This operation involved the delivery of three mortuary transport vehicles for the benefit of the Meknes Prefecture Council and the municipalities of M'Ghaghsa and Cherraga, with a total financial cost of 1,035,000 dirhams, in addition to the delivery of a modern and equipped ambulance for the benefit of the municipality of Boufekrane, at a cost of approximately 402,000 dirhams, within the framework of strengthening the health offer and improving social proximity services. This ceremony was attended by the president of the Meknes Prefecture Council, the mayor of Meknes, the mayor of Mechouar Stinia, along with the heads of military and security services, the heads of the beneficiary municipalities, and a number of heads of internal and external departments. This initiative falls within the strategy of the Meknes Prefecture Council aimed at improving health services, especially in the rural world, by strengthening the ambulance and mortuary transport fleet, with the aim of filling the recorded shortage and responding to the increasing needs of a number of communities, in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of patients and improving their transportation conditions, while preserving the dignity of the deceased and ensuring the transportation of their remains in decent humanitarian conditions. In this context, it is worth mentioning that the Prefectural Council had purchased two ambulances during the year 2024 for the benefit of the municipalities of Nazalat Beni Amar and Al-Mahaya, at a total cost of 700,000 dirhams, while it intends, within the framework of the 2026 program, to purchase additional ambulances for the benefit of the Civil Protection services in Meknes at a cost of one million dirhams, in addition to two ambulances for the benefit of the municipalities of Dkhissa and Sidi Slimane Moul El Kifane, with a financial envelope of 720,000 dirhams. At the level of supporting schooling and combating school dropout, especially in the rural environment, the Meknes Prefecture Council continued to implement its programs aimed at strengthening the school transport fleet, where three buses were purchased during the year 2022 for the benefit of the municipalities of Ait Ouallal (two buses) and Dar Um Sultan, at a total cost of 930,000 dirhams. Also, during the year 2023, eight buses were purchased at a cost of 2,750,000 dirhams for the benefit of a number of rural communities. During the years 2024 and 2025, the Council continued the same momentum by purchasing additional school transport buses for the benefit of a group of communities, with the programming of a deal to purchase six buses at a total cost exceeding 2.3 million dirhams, while the 2026 budget allocated an amount of 2,187,000 dirhams for the purchase of five new buses, in coordination with the National Initiative for Human Development. It is expected that these social investments will contribute to improving the quality of school transport services in the rural environment and enabling more than 7,000 male and female students to benefit from this vital facility, which supports the schooling of rural girls and enhances the principle of equal opportunities in access to education.
