HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Al-Harwali

The Mohammed VI Administrative and Cultural Complex in Marrakech hosted, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a ceremony to hand over certificates of benefit from the financing of the program for the rehabilitation and economic empowerment of women project holders and support for cooperatives in the Marrakech-Safi region.

This program comes within the framework of activating public policies aimed at promoting the economic empowerment of women and advancing the social and solidarity economy under the supervision of the Social Development Agency. The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, along with the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, the Governor of Marrakech Prefecture, and the President of the Marrakech-Safi Regional Council, in the presence of the Vice-President of the Marrakech Prefecture Council, the heads of the regional councils, the Vice-President of the Municipal Council, in addition to the Acting Director General of the Social Development Agency, the Director General of National Cooperation, the heads of decentralized services, and representatives of civil society. The program falls within the framework of an institutional partnership that brings together the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region, the Regional Council, and the Social Development Agency, according to an approach based on convergence and the integration of public policies directed towards women project holders. The Regional Coordinator of the Social Development Agency presented a detailed presentation on the program's results, in which she reviewed the indicators of benefit, the most important achievements of the stage, as well as the economic and social impact recorded in the various provinces of the region. A total financial envelope of 16 million dirhams was allocated, benefiting 436 women's cooperatives, where 91.38 percent of this envelope was directed to finance income-generating projects, 8 percent to support the areas of rehabilitation and training, while 0.62 percent was allocated to follow-up and accompaniment expenses. This approach aims to ensure the sustainability of projects and enhance their effectiveness by combining financing, training, rehabilitation, and technical support, which enables women's cooperatives to contribute to creating job opportunities, valuing local products, improving family income, and strengthening economic integration, especially in the fields of agriculture, traditional industry, local products, and services. The ceremony concluded with the handing over of certificates of benefit from the program's financing to the benefiting cooperatives in an atmosphere that reflected the importance of this initiative and the commitment of the various actors to continue supporting women as a pivotal actor in achieving sustainable local and regional development.
