The “strange” facade of the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca sparks controversy before its completion.

A few months ago, renovation work began on several stadiums in Morocco in preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, including the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca.
The Mohammed V Complex was closed to Casablanca clubs to be renovated and modernized, in order to be ready to host CAN matches. It was decided to keep the rubber track and not to cover the stadium, while building an external facade around it.
The media and social networks have relayed the first stages of the stadium’s wrapping and the construction of its external façade, with indications that the wrapping would be carried out with “strange” materials unusual for football stadiums.
According to reports, part of the exterior façade has been constructed with a thick white “mesh”, with an unusual geometric design, which has sparked much debate and increased questions about how the stadium will be wrapped, in the absence of official data or images on the stadium’s design.
Some observers have criticized the planned wrapping, saying that the use of fabric in a stadium the size of the “Donor Stadium” is a shame and deserves accountability, as the durability of the fabric will not be long if it is used, especially in a stadium that has hosted many non-sporting events in the past. In addition, it does not meet the expectations of the upcoming events hosted by our country, considering it primitive and lacking in creativity.
