The mayor of Ksar El Kebir, Mohamed Essaimo, revealed that King Mohammed VI has given instructions to the Royal Armed Forces to distribute tents to those affected by the floods in the coming hours.
He also called on residents threatened by rising water levels to leave their homes and go to youth and cultural centers, where assistance will be provided, including mattresses and food supplies. On his part, the regional director of equipment and water in the province of Larache, Azzadine Ait Taleb, confirmed that work is ongoing to build temporary protective barriers to protect residential neighborhoods threatened by the waters of the Loukkos River, as part of precautionary measures aimed at protecting lives and property. He pointed out that the alert and follow-up committee, chaired by the governor of the province, arrived in the city to monitor the situation on the ground following the weather forecast. The regional authorities had announced a state of maximum alert in Ksar El Kebir after the significant rise in the water level of the Loukkos River as a result of heavy rainfall and the discharge of water from the Wadi al-Makhazin dam, with the mobilization of various relevant services to monitor the situation of areas exposed to the risk of flooding.
