HIBAPRESS
A large fire broke out on Thursday inside residences in the Manshiyat al-Zarayeb area of the Manshiyat Nasser district, west of Cairo, which required a wide security alert after the fire spread to neighboring homes.
The fire started inside one of the houses before the flames quickly spread to three other homes, due to the proximity of the buildings in the area, which made it difficult to control it at the beginning. Dense clouds of smoke rose and covered the sky of the neighborhood, especially in the vicinity of Mount Mokattam, which raised the fears of the residents. Upon reporting the incident, civil protection forces rushed, supported by ten fire trucks, in addition to ambulances, local and security authorities, where a security cordon was imposed around the fire site to secure the area and facilitate intervention operations. Gas and electricity were also cut off as a precautionary measure to avoid any additional risks. The Governor of Cairo, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, followed up on the firefighting efforts in the field, stressing the need to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the crowded residential buildings, especially in the direction leading to the Sayyida Aisha area. According to preliminary data, no injuries or deaths were recorded, while civil protection teams continue cooling operations to ensure that the fire does not reignite, in parallel with opening an investigation to determine the causes of the fire. This incident comes in the context of the recurrence of similar fires inside some neighborhoods of Cairo, where civil protection data indicates the registration of thousands of reports annually, often due to random electrical connections and the use of unsafe energy sources, especially in densely populated areas, which sheds light again on the importance of adhering to prevention and safety procedures.
