Bank Al-Maghrib reported that the exchange rate of the dirham rose by 1.5 percent against the US dollar and fell by 0.7 percent against the euro during the week of January 22 to 28.
Bank Al-Maghrib explained, in its latest weekly indicators bulletin, that no auction operations were carried out in the foreign exchange market during this period. The same source highlighted that official reserve assets reached 450.5 billion dirhams on January 23, 2026, recording an increase of 0.5 percent week-on-week and 21.9 percent year-on-year. The total interventions of Bank Al-Maghrib reached 144.2 billion dirhams, on a daily average, distributed in the form of 7-day advances amounting to 52.2 billion dirhams, long-term repurchase operations of 53.3 billion dirhams, and secured loans of 38.7 billion dirhams. At the interbank market level, the average daily trading volume rose to 4.7 billion dirhams, and the interbank rate stabilized at 2.25 percent. During the tender on January 28, 2026 (maturity date January 29, 2026), Bank Al-Maghrib injected 50.4 billion dirhams in the form of 7-day advances. Regarding the stock market, the "Masi" index rose by 1.7 percent from January 22 to 28, 2026, bringing its performance since the beginning of the year to 0.6 percent. This development reflects, in particular, the rise in the indices of the "Banks" sectors by 2.4 percent, "Mining" by 6.4 percent, "Real Estate and Building Materials" by 1.4 percent, and "Transportation Services" by 2.3 percent. As for the weekly volume of exchanges, it rose from 1.2 billion dirhams to 1.7 billion dirhams week-on-week, and was mainly in the central stock market.
