French club Stade Rennais announced today the official signing of the rising Moroccan striker Yasser Zoubeiri, coming from the Portuguese league where he played for Famalicão, in a move that reflects the French club's continued support for Moroccan talents and graduates of the Mohammed VI Academy.
Zoubeiri is 18 years old and trained for nine years at the Mohammed VI Academy before emerging prominently in the Youth World Cup in Chile, where he won the top scorer award with 5 goals and contributed to the Moroccan national team's second-place finish, scoring a brace in the final match against Argentina. Zoubeiri will wear the number 77 shirt and will participate alongside his teammate and friend Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, expressing his happiness by saying: "I chose the perfect place to develop my potential, and Rennes is known for its ability to hone talents, and Nayef Aguerd and Abdelhamid encouraged me to take this step." The Moroccan striker joined the ranks of Stade Rennais under a contract that extends until June 2029, in a deal worth 10 million euros. This season, Zoubeiri played 12 matches with Famalicão in the Portuguese league, scoring 4 goals, in addition to two matches in the cup competition.
