Specialized units belonging to the Royal Armed Forces, in coordination with the local authorities, today, Thursday, began the evacuation of the residents of Douar Soualem, which belongs to the municipality of Oulad Hcine (Sidi Slimane province), who are exposed to the risks of flooding.
This proactive intervention, which was made possible thanks to the mobilization of the various concerned parties to overcome the difficulties of reaching the areas submerged by the floods, embodied the ideal solidarity and the speed of the reaction of the various interveners in the face of the bad weather that the region has witnessed recently. The evacuation teams, especially the specialized units of the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Civil Protection elements, harnessed important logistical means, including rubber boats with engines and several rescue boats. This equipment played a vital role in moving in the areas submerged in water, which enabled the rescue teams to reach the most isolated houses and ensure the evacuation and transfer of citizens to safe areas. In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Fatima, a mother of two children, praised the speed of the evacuation operations following the rise in water levels that surrounded her house in a matter of minutes. For his part, Mohamed praised the rapid response and professionalism of the Royal Armed Forces elements, who used rubber boats to provide assistance to the residents exposed to the risk of rising water levels. For his part, Hamid, a farmer in Douar Soualem, expressed his deep gratitude to the local authorities and the rest of the interveners for their dedication and field effectiveness, noting that this intervention not only contributed to saving human lives, but also provided moral support to the affected residents. Following their evacuation from the affected areas, the rescued people were immediately transferred to temporary shelters prepared by the regional authorities for this purpose. Transportation was secured through a fleet of transport vehicles belonging to the Royal Armed Forces and Civil Protection, which are specially equipped to travel on rough terrain and flooded roads. Upon their arrival at the reception facilities, the families benefited from comprehensive care, which included, in particular, urgent medical assistance, the distribution of hot meals, as well as clothes and blankets.
