HIBAPRESS-RABAT
The first Olympic Village was built at the Paris 1924 Olympic Games. To celebrate the anniversary of this French invention, the Olympic and Paralympic Village had to reflect the ambition of Paris 2024 and SOLIDEO: to be a useful project for its host territory, innovative, sustainable, and at the service of the populations. From the massive use of bio-sourced materials to the optimization of energy needs, the projects implemented in the Village make it possible to present a carbon footprint reduced by half, over the entire life cycle of the buildings, compared to a traditional development project. In accordance with Paris 2024’s desire to leave a positive footprint on its host territory, the entire site was designed and built to eventually become an authentic city district, lively and sustainable in light of the challenges of the 21st century, in particular energy supply and adaptation to climate change.
After the Games, Paris 2024 and SOLIDEO will ensure the reversibility of the Village from September 2024, so that the site is left as a legacy to the inhabitants of Seine-Saint-Denis. Built in the municipalities of Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen and L’Île-Saint-Denis, it will be transformed after the Games into 2,800 housing units – including student residences and 32 to 48% social housing depending on the municipality – to eventually accommodate 6,000 residents and 6,000 employees.
