HIBAPRESS
The Interprofessional Federation of the Poultry Sector in Morocco announced that the sector of broiler chick and white meat production is experiencing a delicate situation recently, as a result of a set of constraints related to production and marketing, just before the start of Ramadan.
The Federation explained in a statement that professionals sought, in preparation for Ramadan, to raise production levels to ensure an abundance of supply and stable supply, where the production of broiler chicks during January 2025 reached about 10.4 million chicks, recording an increase of about 11 percent compared to the same period of 2024, while poultry production increased by 14 percent. Despite this increase in production, chick prices recorded a sharp decline, where the price of one chick reached about 0.5 dirhams, a level that does not cover production costs, which caused losses to producers. Chicken meat prices at the farm level also ranged between 9 and 12 dirhams per kilogram since the last quarter of 2025 until today, as a result of the abundance of supply and the increase in production costs related to feed, energy and veterinary services. The statement indicated that the decline in production prices was not reflected in the final prices for the consumer, due to imbalances in the poultry marketing system and the intervention of some intermediaries. The Federation also recorded a delay in the supply of compound feed as a result of weather disturbances that affected the unloading of ships at the ports of Casablanca and Jorf Lasfar, which led to a shortage of raw materials and the interruption of the stock of feed factories. The Federation stressed the need to take urgent measures to ensure a regular supply of feed, and to reorganize production and marketing chains, in a way that ensures the stability of supply and prices in the national market.
