The Israeli bobsleigh team was subjected to a robbery on Saturday, targeting its training camp, while its members were undergoing a training session, in an incident that disrupted its preparations before the official competitions begin.
"RMC Sport" reported that the theft, which shook the Winter Olympics held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, included passports of a number of athletes, in addition to sports equipment and personal items estimated to be worth thousands of dollars. According to the same source, the competent authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, amid secrecy regarding the details of the perpetrators and the circumstances surrounding the theft, especially since the training camp of the Israeli team was not announced for security reasons. The Israeli team is preparing to participate in the four-man bobsleigh competitions, scheduled to start on February 21st, knowing that some team members have not yet arrived in Italy. This is the first participation in the history of Israel in this winter sport.
