HIBAPRESS-RABAT
The evolution of Moroccan rugby continues and with it the remarkable work of the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation, which has armed itself with participatory and institutional work at all levels of the administrative and technical structure.
Following the coronation of the National Rugby 7s Team at the Arab Championship organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Morocco’s success in reintegrating the African and International Confederation and breaking out of an impasse that had lasted for years, the FRMR opened an important workshop, namely the National Rugby Workshop (NRC).
The FRMR has opened an important project, that of the National Team, where work has started from Europe, more precisely from France, where a selective grouping of Moroccan players working in Europe has been organized.
The FRMR had organized a similar selective gathering for Moroccan players abroad in Augen, France, between June 26 and 30.
It was a great success, a sign of a good new start for Moroccan rugby and its openness to Moroccans abroad.
In the same context, and in preparation for the African Championship that our country will host, the Royal Moroccan Rugby Federation, in coordination with the technical department, organized a selective gathering dedicated to local players playing in the national championship.
The objective of these two meetings was to select the best international players who will form the Moroccan rugby team that will participate in the African Cup of Groups B and C, qualifying for the African Cup of Group A, which will take place from October 7 to 17, 2024 in the cities of Oujda and Essaïdia.
On this occasion, the president of the FRMR, Hicham Oubja, welcomed the great atmosphere that prevailed during the selection training of the National Rugby Team at the Moulay Rachid Institute in Salé, highlighting the great efforts made by the technical staff led by coach Kouider Kasmi in order to prepare a strong, united and competitive Moroccan team to honor Moroccan rugby.
