American Senator Joe Wilson praised the efforts of US President Donald Trump and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to advance the peace process between Morocco and Algeria, considering that this initiative may contribute to enhancing stability in North Africa.
Wilson added in a post on his official X platform account that the success of this path will contribute to strengthening regional cooperation and encouraging the resolution of conflicts through peaceful means. The American senator called on Algeria to strengthen its strategic partnership with the United States, stressing that Washington is able to provide significant economic and military support, which enhances opportunities for development and stability. Wilson stressed the need for Algeria to abandon its support for the Polisario Front, considering that the continuation of this support hinders efforts for a peaceful solution and prolongs the conflict. He pointed out that the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco represents the realistic and most applicable solution to end the conflict, calling for support for this path as the most appropriate framework for achieving a permanent settlement. The American senator concluded his post by emphasizing that Algeria is able to open a new page of regional and international cooperation if it chooses the logic of partnership and stability instead of ideological alignment.
