HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
The Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Agadir was shaken this morning, Saturday, February 14th, by a suicide, after a sixty-year-old deliberately threw himself from the balcony of his room on the third floor of the hospital.
Contrary to what has been circulated, family problems were primarily behind this tragedy, in addition to the patient's insistent desire to his wife to allow him to smoke a cigarette, he suffers from chronic asthma contrary to the strict instructions he received from his attending physician. Confirmed data, gathered from the scene, indicate that the person in question had benefited from full treatment for his chronic illness, before receiving a discharge paper, but his family members did not want to take him home and care for him, apparently as a dispute with him, on the pretext of suffering from prostate disease as well, which prompted the hospital administration to refer him again to the specialized department, where he asked his wife there to give him a cigarette, threatening her with suicide, which he actually did in a moment of inattention from everyone. The hospital administration opened an investigation into the matter, denying any shortcomings on its part, while the intervention of the competent Public Prosecution is expected on the line in accordance with the judicial procedures in force.
