The local stronghold of the Authenticity and Modernity Party in Oujda is experiencing an unprecedented organizational and ethical earthquake, after an internal meeting intended to "mend the rift" veered into sharp verbal confrontations, ending in the corridors of the courts and the opening of a judicial investigation that puts the party before a real test of the credibility of its slogans related to "moralizing political life".
The meeting, chaired by Lakhdar Haddouch, head of the party in the Oujda Municipal Council, was expected to be a station to overcome internal differences and arrange the "PAM" house to face the challenges of collective management. However, the course of the meeting went in a completely opposite direction; where the situation exploded with an exchange of accusations that sources from within the meeting described as "shameful and fallen", which led to the withdrawal of a number of consultants in protest against what they considered an affront to their dignity and an insult to their representative capacity.
The repercussions of the unrest did not stop at the limits of the party's internal house, but moved to the legal path after one of the consultants decided to file an official complaint in which she accused a member of insulting, defaming, and threatening, and the Public Prosecution in Oujda interacted with the complaint, where it gave its instructions to the judicial police to open an official investigation and listen to all those present at the meeting, which turns the issue from an "internal party affair" to a local and legal public opinion issue.
Observers of local affairs believe that what happened reflects a deeper crisis in the culture of managing differences within the team, where "personal accounts" and the struggle for positions prevailed over the logic of the institution. This incident puts the leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, nationally and regionally, before serious responsibilities, especially in light of moralizing political life: how can the party defend this slogan while its local structures fail to guarantee the minimum ethics of dialogue; the political empowerment of women: the withdrawals and judicial complaints of the party's consultants strike at the heart of efforts to empower women in leadership roles and protect them within the political space; then organizational prestige: silence towards these slips may be interpreted as an inability to activate ethics committees, which may lead to a widening gap of loss of confidence among voters.
While the judicial police continue their investigations to determine the circumstances of the "verbal chaos", the political circles in the Eastern region await the nature of the organizational decisions that the party will take, either to move towards a strict accountability that restores respect for the rules of party discipline, or to settle for "calming statements" that may not be useful in light of the existence of an open judicial file.
