Israel decided on Wednesday to restrict Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of Ramadan, allowing only 10,000 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank to perform them, provided they obtain prior security clearance.
The office of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Palestinian Territories said in a statement: "Following a security assessment of the situation, the political level approved a plan for Palestinian worshipers to enter to pray Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque throughout the month of Ramadan." It clarified that "10,000 Palestinian worshipers have been approved to enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayers throughout the month of Ramadan, provided they obtain a daily permit allocated for each Friday prayer."
