The newspaper "Le Figaro" affirmed that the city of Marrakech continues to reign as the preferred destination for French tourists during the winter season, benefiting from its mild weather and the strengthening of its air transport network.
The newspaper explained, in an article within the travel section of its website, that Morocco is solidifying its position as the first foreign destination for the French outside of Europe, however, the Red City remains the most prominent choice for spending the winter holiday, while maintaining its continuous tourist attractiveness. Despite the emergence of rising destinations within the Kingdom, supported by improved air connectivity and the recording of significant growth rates, the data indicates that Marrakech continues to attract increasing numbers of visitors, with expectations for this momentum to continue during the coming period. The city recorded a remarkable performance during the year 2025, as the number of overnight stays exceeded 12.4 million nights, an increase of 3 percent during the first eleven months of the year, and it is currently experiencing high occupancy rates coinciding with the winter holiday. According to data issued by the Association of Guesthouses in Marrakech and the South, traditional accommodation establishments record occupancy rates exceeding 80 percent, with the number of some of them approaching their maximum capacity. For his part, the search engine Liligo reported that Marrakech tops the list of the most booked destinations during the February holiday in the French market, attributing this demand to several factors, including the moderate climate, geographical proximity, and reasonable travel costs, in addition to the ease of access to the city.
