HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
Casablanca is witnessing suffocating traffic congestion on a number of main axes during the month of Ramadan, which has caused a state of discontent among citizens and road users.
The congestion intensifies noticeably during the morning rush hours, as the employees and students head to their workplaces and schools, coinciding with additional pressure on the road network. The situation also worsens after three o'clock in the afternoon, coinciding with the departure of users and employees from administrations and companies, where several streets turn into black spots with very slow traffic. Drivers complain about the long travel time, which may double compared to normal days, which negatively affects their professional and family commitments, especially in the pre-iftar period. Observers believe that this phenomenon repeats itself every year during Ramadan, which calls for more effective preemptive measures, whether by enhancing the security presence to organize traffic or improving the programming of traffic signals and educating drivers to respect traffic laws.
