HIBAPRESS – Agencies
The party of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denied on Sunday evening reports that he had been killed.
The official Iranian news agency "ILNA" had previously reported that Ahmadinejad, 69, was killed in an air strike targeting Tehran. The agency stated that he died at his home east of the capital, Tehran, along with his personal guard. The veracity of either of the contradictory statements could not be independently verified. A statement published on the website of the "Dolat Bahar" (Spring State) party stated, "The party hereby announces that the reports circulating about the killing of Ahmadinejad in the American-Israeli attacks are baseless." For its part, the Iranian Students News Agency "ISNA" published a statement attributed to Ahmadinejad regarding the killing of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose death was announced by official television overnight.
