HIBAPRESS
The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Finland praised, on Sunday, March 1, 2026, in Rabat, the strength of their relations, which they described as dynamic and mutually beneficial.
In a joint statement, adopted following the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, the two ministers noted with satisfaction, in continuation of Bourita's visit to Finland in August 2024, the positive dynamics recorded and the promising prospects for cooperation. The two ministers, in this joint statement, reiterated their determination to further strengthen economic and trade relations, with a focus on several strategic sectors, particularly digitalization, the deployment of secure, resilient, and reliable fifth-generation networks, as well as information and communication technology infrastructure from trusted providers. Technologies related to water and renewable energies were also identified as areas of cooperation with great potential for both countries. The discussions between the two ministers also addressed a number of current international issues, particularly the situation in the Middle East and in Europe, as well as developments in the Sahel region and Sudan. Bourita and Valtonen also exchanged views on the transformations taking place in the global system, reiterating the importance of an international system based on the rules and principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, particularly the need for countries to refrain from resorting to the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. The official visit of the Finnish head of diplomacy to the Kingdom, at the invitation of Bourita, confirms the common will of Rabat and Helsinki to consolidate their relations and elevate them to a distinguished partnership based on trust, regular political dialogue, and the strengthening of sectoral cooperation.
