Marrakech.. Theft and corruption lead police to investigate
The regional brigade of the judicial police of Marrakech opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, yesterday evening, Wednesday July 24, in order to determine the criminal acts attributed to police officers suspected of being involved in a case of theft and corruption.
Initial information from the investigation indicates that the police officers, a police inspector and a senior police inspector working at a security post, are suspected of stealing a sum of money belonging to a person who had been arrested and taken into custody as part of a preliminary investigation into a criminal case.
The arrested police officers are also suspected of accepting a sum of money as a bribe from a member of the suspect’s family, in order to refrain from performing an action of their function during the execution of legal proceedings.
The police officers in question were placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to reveal all the circumstances, the ins and outs of this case, while the General Directorate of National Security will wait for the end of the judicial investigation to decide on the necessary administrative and disciplinary measures.
