On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Primary Court of Fez issued its rulings in a case related to defamation and publishing photos without permission, in which a number of content creators on the YouTube platform were prosecuted, after pleadings sessions that lasted during the past weeks.
The court sentenced the YouTuber known as "Mi Naima Al-Badawiya" to four months in suspended prison, with an enforceable fine of 10,000 dirhams, in addition to 500 dirhams in costs. It also sentenced her daughter, known on the same platform as "Bint Mi Naima", to six months in suspended prison, with a similar fine.
In contrast, the court issued a sentence of ten months in prison for YouTuber M.A., the daughter's husband, along with a fine of 10,000 dirhams, as well as 500 dirhams in costs.
The ruling also included the defendants jointly bearing the costs, with the minimum period of physical coercion being determined. The court also decided to return the bail amounts to the first and second defendants after deducting the value of the fines imposed.
Regarding the civil aspect of the case, the court ordered the defendants to pay, jointly, a civil compensation of 30,000 dirhams for the benefit of the claimant of the civil right, while holding them responsible for the legal expenses and determining the minimum period of compulsion.
This case falls under the files related to defamation and publication crimes via digital platforms, which have begun to raise increasing discussion about the limits of freedom of expression and the legal responsibility of content creators on social media sites.
