HIBAPRESS – Marrakech: Mohamed Daher
The National Food Safety Office (ONSSA), in coordination with the local authorities in the city of Marrakech, managed to seize more than a ton of spoiled food inside a commercial shop in the Bab Aghmat area this Thursday afternoon.
According to sources from the newspaper, the raid was carried out after the services of the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region received a complaint via the green number 5757 regarding the shop owner's display and storage of expired food items, with the registration of the spread of insects and the presence of rodents inside the storage space. The inspection revealed serious irregularities, including the spread of dirt and insects inside the shop, the discovery of dead rodents around the storage areas, in addition to the presence of rat droppings near the food items, as well as the storage of these materials in conditions that do not respect the applicable health standards. Expired food items that were intended for storage and sale were also seized, which poses a direct threat to the health of consumers.
