On Sunday, the Israeli army warned that it would continue to pursue anyone who takes over the position of Iranian Supreme Leader after Ali Khamenei.
In a post on the X platform in Persian, the Israeli army also warned that it would pursue anyone who seeks to appoint a successor to Khamenei, referring to the religious body responsible for choosing the Supreme Leader of Iran. The Iranian Mehr news agency reported that Mohammad Mehdi Mirbagheri, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, announced on Sunday that an agreement had been reached among the majority regarding the selection of Khamenei's successor. He added, according to the report, that there are "some obstacles" that still exist in this process. Iranian media reported that the body in charge of appointing Iran's Supreme Leader had a slight disagreement over whether its final decision should come after a meeting with a personal presence or should be issued without adhering to this formal procedure.
