Tomorrow, Thursday, July 25, the trial of the owner of a fast food restaurant, who is in detention in the local prison after causing the poisoning of more than 30 people during the month of June, will begin at the Tiznit primary school.
The detainee faces several charges related to the exhibition and presentation of a food product that poses a health risk and the exhibition of products that do not comply with safety requirements. After a number of customers of the store located in Meshour Square in Tiznit experienced symptoms of food poisoning after eating fast food, medical teams were immediately called and provided first aid to those affected before transporting them to hospitals.
The incident prompted local authorities to close the snack bar in question and conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the poisoning, with preliminary investigations indicating the possibility of poor food preservation or non-compliance with hygiene and food safety standards.
A joint committee in Tiznit had already issued a warning to those concerned after having succeeded, during a surveillance operation last February, in seizing a quantity of minced meat (kofta) and turkey meat unfit for consumption and constituting a threat to the health of citizens.
