The national security elements at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca managed, on Sunday, March 8th, to arrest a Tunisian citizen, 27 years old, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the judicial authorities in Tunisia.
The individual in question was arrested immediately after his arrival on a flight from one of Portugal's airports. The process of checking his information in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) revealed that he was internationally wanted under a red notice, issued at the request of the National Central Bureau of Tunisia, on the grounds of suspicion of his connection to a criminal network active in forgery and its use, in addition to car theft.
Following instructions from the competent Public Prosecution, the suspect was subjected to the procedures of the extradition process, with the aim of deporting him to his country of origin. The Interpol Rabat office, affiliated with the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with informing its Tunisian counterpart of the arrest, within the framework of the judicial and security coordination in place.
This security intervention comes within the context of the commitment of the security services in Morocco to strengthening international cooperation mechanisms, especially in the field of pursuing and arresting internationally wanted persons involved in cases of organized and transnational crime, thereby enhancing regional and international security.
