The National Police in occupied Melilla managed to detain a person suspected of involvement in activities related to jihadist terrorism, in a precise security operation carried out by the security forces.
The operation took place on Tuesday, March 10th, where a house in the Cabrerizas neighborhood, specifically on Ramirez de Madrid Street, was raided. A large security apparatus was deployed in the area during the house search.
The security operation was carried out by the General Police Information Commission, which specializes in investigations related to terrorist crimes, in cooperation with members of the Melilla Police Command.
During the search, various materials were found and confiscated, including a box that was removed from the house during the operation. The suspect was present inside the house at the beginning of the security intervention.
According to security sources, the detainee is expected to be transferred to the Melilla Police Command after the completion of the search procedures.
Before his transfer, he will undergo a medical examination at a health center as a routine procedure in such security operations.
The investigations are being conducted under the supervision of the National Court, which is the judicial body in Spain that is competent in cases related to terrorism.
Despite the importance of this operation, the authorities have not yet revealed additional details about the scope of the investigation or the activities that the detainee was suspected of carrying out.
This operation is the second against terrorism this year, although the authorities confirmed that it is not related to the first operation that took place at the beginning of 2026.
This operation falls within the framework of the ongoing efforts of the security forces to combat jihadist terrorism in the city of occupied Melilla, which has witnessed many investigations and security operations in recent years.
