HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
The Moroccan Association for Human Rights, Manara branch in Marrakech, announced its support for a citizen who filed a complaint stating that she was subjected to a serious sexual assault at the end of November 2025, accusing a person of raping her and causing her severe physical and psychological harm that necessitated her undergoing an emergency surgical operation, according to a statement from the association.
The local branch of the association clarified in a statement, of which the newspaper has a copy, that the victim confirmed in her complaint that the investigation procedure was marred by violations, including, according to her statement, being forced to sign records indicating the consensual nature of the relationship, in addition to filing what she described as malicious complaints against her after she resorted to the judiciary. The association affirmed its solidarity with the victim and its legal support, demanding a deepening of the investigation into the circumstances of the case and the disclosure of any potential imbalances during the investigation phase, while ensuring her protection from any pressure or retaliatory follow-up. The human rights body also called on the judicial authorities to deal seriously and transparently with this case, stressing the need to guarantee the conditions for a fair trial and the non-escape from punishment, especially since the Moroccan Penal Code criminalizes rape and increases penalties in cases of violence or if it results in serious physical harm, in order to protect the rights of victims and enhance confidence in justice.
