HIBAPRESS – Ahmed Al-Musaid
The border areas in the southeastern part of the Kingdom are experiencing a wave of severe cold and heavy snowfall, as well as a drop in temperatures, which led to the registration of new deaths among irregular migrants.
Local sources informed that the authorities in the Figuig province found, on Wednesday, March 11th, four bodies of migrants from sub-Saharan African countries. According to field data, three bodies were found in the vicinity of the Ain Chaair area, while the fourth body was found near the national road linking Figuig and Bouarfa.
It is likely that the harsh climatic conditions, characterized by a sharp drop in temperatures to below zero, are the main reason behind these deaths, especially since mountainous areas such as Ras Asfour, Touissit and Tendrara have been experiencing severe weather disturbances for days.
The incident mobilized the local and health authorities in the Figuig province, where the bodies were transported to the morgue at the Hassan II Regional Hospital in Bouarfa. News from the area indicates that arrangements are underway to transfer the bodies to the city of Oujda for a detailed medical examination, in implementation of the legal procedures in force to determine the scientific causes of death.
