The Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products and the National Agency for the Regulation of Activities Related to Cannabis signed, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the headquarters of the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products in Al Irfane, a protocol of agreement concerning the procedures for registering products based on cannabis.
This initiative comes within the framework of activating the provisions of Law No. 13.21 relating to the legitimate uses of cannabis. It also falls within the tasks of the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products, which is responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of health products offered in the market, while keeping pace with the development of the manufacture of medicines and health products derived from this sector. This protocol aims to continue and strengthen the efforts made by the two agencies to speed up administrative procedures and simplify the procedures applied to operators wishing to submit registration files for health products extracted from cannabis. It also aims to ensure compliance with the quality, safety, and control standards applied to these products, within the framework of a strict regulatory system that complies with public health requirements. Through this partnership, the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products and the National Agency for the Regulation of Activities Related to Cannabis affirm their joint commitment to establishing a transparent, effective, and consistent framework with international standards. This cooperation will contribute to the responsible and organized development of the national cannabis sector, while ensuring the protection of public health and the health safety of citizens.
