Fraud and deception operations have developed in several provinces of the Souss-Massa region, affecting several gas stations, after having supplied fuel to “fake” companies, in exchange for bank checks which later revealed the absence of financial provisions in these bank accounts, which prompted the stations to file complaints with the competent authorities, in order to arrest the perpetrators of these criminal acts.
The latest scam of this kind was found in one of the stations in Tiznit province belonging to one of the nationally renowned companies in the field of fuel sales, after a person managed to seize an oil shipment estimated at 30 million centimes, after loading it into numbered trucks in the city of Casablanca, and disappeared from sight. Check later that the bank accounts of the person concerned are empty.
The victim filed a complaint containing specific information, including the license plate numbers of the trucks supplied with fuel and the data of each individual shipment, in addition to the personal data of the accused. Despite the efforts of the authorities, the accused remains in hiding, which complicates the process of finding him and bringing him to justice.
In this context, this situation has pushed a number of gas stations in Souss to close their doors, while other stations are struggling to survive, which requires the intervention of government authorities in order to protect this vital sector from bankruptcy following fraud and deception operations targeting it, and to seek secure solutions for the financial transactions of these companies with customers.
