The local prison administration of Oudaïa in Marrakech revealed today, Friday, details regarding the claims circulated on some electronic websites concerning "depriving inmates arrested in connection with the protests at the local Oudaïa prison from continuing their studies".
The institution's administration stated in an explanatory statement that "following the placement of the concerned inmates in this institution during October 2025, an awareness campaign was conducted for their benefit, aimed at informing them of the registration procedures in order to continue their studies at various levels." It added: "Following that, 88 requests related to this group of inmates were sent to the relevant sectors, where 21 inmates were registered at the university level, 29 inmates at the secondary qualifying level, and 26 inmates at the preparatory level." The statement continued that "a number of student inmates passed university exams, and the prison administration received approval to take the certification exams for the third preparatory level and the baccalaureate for free students." Regarding the pursuit of vocational training in the available fields at this institution, according to the same statement, "11 detainees who meet the required legal conditions were registered, including 7 juvenile inmates," adding: "As for the rest of the inmates in this category, most of them have dropped out of school or did not wish to continue." The prison institution confirmed that "inmates who were released from this category were made aware of the need to join the relevant colleges or schools to continue their studies, and to return to the institution in case of any difficulty."
