The national coach, Mohamed Wahbi, confirmed that the door of the national team remains open to a number of players who participated in the recent African Cup of Nations finals, despite not being called up during this camp. This was stated during the press conference held today, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, dedicated to announcing the national team's list for the friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.
Wahbi clarified that not inviting some names at the present time does not mean their permanent exclusion, but rather falls within technical choices related to the requirements of the current stage and his desire to try other elements, as well as the injuries of some of them with their clubs. The national team coach added that competition will remain open between all players, whether those who were present in the African Cup or those who have been recently called up, stressing that the goal is to create a balanced group capable of making additions in various events. The national team is preparing to play two friendly matches, where they will meet the Ecuador national team on March 27 in Madrid, before facing the Paraguay national team on March 31 in the French city of Lens, as part of a preparatory program aimed at assessing readiness and expanding the base of choices within the national group.
