German club Hamburg imposed an "unprecedented" disciplinary penalty on its French winger Jean-Luc Dompé, where he was obliged to provide 10,000 reflective vests and participate in their distribution to local schools and childcare centers, as part of the penalties resulting from his driving under the influence of alcohol.
A spokesman for the German club confirmed on Friday the accuracy of what was published by the newspaper "Bild" in this regard. The incident dates back to last January when Dompé was caught driving his car under the influence of alcohol, before facing additional charges after leaving the police station using an electric scooter. Hamburg also imposed a record fine on the player exceeding 100,000 euros (about 115,000 dollars), and he was also suspended for two matches. Dompé has issued a formal apology for his actions, considering his behavior irresponsible.
