Elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, after security coordination with elements of the National Security in Kalaat Sraghna, managed to stop the activity of the "Mercedes" gang that terrorized the city of Kalaat and its surroundings, a short while ago this Saturday, the second day of Eid al-Fitr.
According to sources of the newspaper, the Ambrikat douar in the Aznanda commune in the Kalaat Sraghna region witnessed an attack by members of the gang, consisting of five people, on a woman in order to steal her car, but the intervention of the youth of the region prevented them from carrying out the operation, where they were chased by gendarmerie elements and citizens on their motorcycles, to be stopped at the entrance to the city of Kalaat Sraghna after setting up security barriers that caused their movement to be paralyzed. The same sources confirmed that the arrest operation resulted in the seizure of white weapons inside the gang members' car, which were large-sized swords. The detainees were taken to the headquarters of the security zone in Kalaat Sraghna, in order to write up the arrest report, before referring them to the Royal Gendarmerie elements in order to complete and deepen the investigation, and placing them under custody, before presenting them to the competent Public Prosecution.
