On Thursday in Rabat, the winners of the “Primary School Teacher of the Year” award were honored, within the framework of the second edition of the National Forum for Teachers, organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The first prize in the “Public Primary Education” category went to Professor Ismail Bouhachem, from Timoulilt School, affiliated with the Regional Academy for Education and Training of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, while the second prize went to Professor Osama Jabbar, from the Al-Talaa school group in the Souss-Massa Academy, and the third to Professor Bouchra Elghadani, from Abd al-Salam al-Wazzani School in the Marrakech-Safi Academy.
In the “Social and Educational Advancement Institutes” category, Professor Lamiaa Kalouai, from the Béni Mellal-Khénifra Academy, won the first prize, followed by Professor Saida Mokhtari, from the Marrakech-Safi Academy, while the third prize went to Sakina Oussi, a primary school teacher at the Béni Mellal-Khénifra Academy.
As for the “Inclusive Education” category, Professor Mina Eddouadi, from the Artistic and Literary Openness Center at the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Academy, was awarded the first prize, and Professor Asmaa El Karre, from Imam al-Jazouli School at the Marrakech-Safi Academy, came in second place, while the third place went to Professor Ibrahim Betebagh, from the Imi Oukadir school group in the Souss-Massa Academy, while the “Heartbeat” award was given to Professor Mustafa Marouan, from the Kom El Rouha School affiliated with the Draa-Tafilalet Academy.
In a speech on the occasion, the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Mohamed Saad Barada, praised the efforts made by female and male teachers, stressing that they constitute the real face of the educational system, given their daily commitment within the classrooms.
The Minister affirmed that the educational reform in which Morocco is engaged is recognized by national and international experts, highlighting that the main challenge lies in generalizing this reform while maintaining the same level of quality achieved in model institutions.
He also stressed that improving the material, moral, and social conditions of female and male teachers is a fundamental entry point for the success of the reform, highlighting that enhancing the image of the teacher and developing their communication with families would restore the prestige of public schools.
The National Teachers Forum, which was organized by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Promotion of Social Works for Education and Training over two days under the slogan “The Teacher at the Heart of Educational Transformation,” aimed to encourage dialogue and exchange between the various actors in the educational system, providing a space for sharing visions and experiences and enriching educational discussion.
The works of this session, which saw the participation of more than 3,000 schools and teachers from different parts of the Kingdom, as well as experts, specialists, and actors in the field of education from within and outside Morocco, included scientific seminars, thematic round tables, participatory workshops, and sharing sessions experiences, providing a practical framework for dialogue and sharing successful educational practices.
