The Court of First Instance in the city of Taza issued a ruling yesterday, Thursday, March 26, 2026, sentencing rapper Souhaib Kabli, known as "Al-Hasil," to eight months in prison, with a fine of 1,000 dirhams, and costs.
This ruling comes against the backdrop of the concerned party publishing posts via social media, which were considered offensive to constitutional institutions and bodies, as well as individuals. The Public Prosecution had followed "Al-Hasil" on several charges, including insulting public officials while performing their duties, insulting an organized body and a constitutional body, in addition to broadcasting and distributing false allegations and facts via information systems with the intention of defamation and infringing on the private lives of individuals. The court acquitted him of some charges related to the dissemination of false claims and defamation, while convicting him of the charge of failing to fulfill the duty of reverence and respect due to a constitutional institution, which was the basis of the ruling issued against him. The person in question was placed under custody in the city of Fes on March 2, 2026, before being referred to the Public Prosecution, which decided to prosecute him in a state of arrest, after which the court began the procedures for his trial, which began on the 5th of March. This case falls within the context of the increasing judicial follow-up related to the use of social media platforms, especially with regard to content that affects institutions or individuals.
