Fez hosted, on Saturday, a closed meeting that brought together a technical committee from the International Federation of Football with local officials and representatives from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the Morocco 2030 Foundation, within the framework of monitoring the readiness of cities nominated to host the 2030 World Cup finals.
According to consistent data, this meeting, in which about 16 international experts participated, was dedicated to reviewing the various components of the city of Fez's file, where detailed technical presentations were given on infrastructure, hotel accommodation capacity, and the transport and mobility system, in addition to the status of the Grand Stadium of Fez, which is currently undergoing preparation work to adapt it to the FIFA specifications. The presentations also highlighted structured projects that the city intends to implement, including the creation of new road entrances, the rehabilitation of the urban network, and the development of transport services, as well as strengthening rail links with major cities, especially through high-speed lines connecting Fez with the capital, Rabat, with the aim of improving the fluidity of movement and increasing the city's attractiveness. On the sidelines of the meeting, the FIFA delegation conducted a field tour that included Old Fez, where they were briefed on the historical and tourist assets of the city and visited a number of prominent spaces and landmarks, at a time when the visit coincided with the return of activity to Place Boujloud, one of the most prominent entrances to the old city. This visit falls within a series of field assessments conducted by FIFA to ascertain the readiness of the nominated cities, in the context of ongoing preparations to host the 2030 World Cup, which is expected to be a pivotal point in the process of developing infrastructure and strengthening the Kingdom's international influence.
