The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Monday the death of its Navy commander, Ali Reza Tanaksiri, in an American-Israeli attack.
It added in a statement that Tanaksiri sustained serious injuries "while he was busy strengthening the defensive shield of the islands and coasts and organizing the forces," which led to his death.
The statement of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard comes after Israel announced on March 26 that it had assassinated Tanaksiri during one of the attacks it launched on Iran.
The official Hebrew Broadcasting Authority quoted an Israeli source (which it did not name) claiming that an attack was carried out "through a precise raid" that targeted Tanaksiri, which led to his death in the city of Bandar Abbas, overlooking the Arabian Gulf.
