US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that there is a "complete regime change" in Iran happening now, indicating that his administration is negotiating with moderate and "more rational" Iranian leaders, as he described them.
Trump said in an interview with American media outlets: "We now have a different group of people (in Iran) who are in control, but they are much more moderate, and I think they are more rational." He added: "We are negotiating with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf." The US President continued: "We will leave Iran within two or three weeks… The only goal I had in Iran was that it not possess a nuclear weapon." He pointed out that "Iran's return to negotiations is good but not necessary."
