The Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance in Al Hoceima recently sentenced a defendant who was arrested in the Ajdir region, following his involvement in a case related to the trafficking of hard drugs, including cocaine, in addition to the possession of prohibited substances.
The details of this case go back to a well-executed security operation launched by the Royal Gendarmerie elements in Al Hoceima, which resulted in the arrest of the person concerned in a car, where about 20 grams of cocaine were seized, which were prepared for trafficking. The search of his house also resulted in the seizure of equipment used in this activity, including an electronic scale and sums of money in national and foreign currencies.
After completing the investigations, the accused was prosecuted on charges related to the possession and trafficking of hard drugs, dealing in foreign currency within the national territory, as well as the illegal possession of drugs, in addition to the lack of insurance.
The court ruled to hold the accused accountable for what was attributed to him, and sentenced him to eight years in prison, with a fine of 20,000 dirhams, in addition to the confiscation of the mobile phone, electronic scale and seized materials for the benefit of the State Property Administration, with the destruction of the drugs in accordance with legal procedures, and the confiscation of the amount of 22,000 dirhams for the benefit of the General Treasury.
In the civil aspect, the court obligated the accused to pay the amount of 22,344,684 dirhams for the benefit of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, with the confiscation of the seized car, in addition to the amount of 380 euros for the benefit of the same administration
