The Maghreb Sports Association (MAS) of Fez held its ordinary general assembly on Friday, marked by the unanimous election of Hicham Chakour as the new president of the association.
In a statement to MAP, Hicham Chakour, new president of MAS Fez, stressed the strategic importance of this general assembly for the future of the club.
He highlighted the fact that this meeting made it possible to address crucial points concerning the current situation and the prospects of the club, notably through the detailed examination of the moral and financial reports.
Mr. Chakour also revealed that his election to head the club is part of a broader context of restructuring of the company MAS SA, with the planned arrival of new investors.
“This dynamic of change aims to breathe new life into the club, with the stated ambition of enabling it to regain the prestigious place it deserves on the national football scene,” he said.
The meeting was also marked by the unanimous approval of the moral report for the 2023/2024 sports season, as well as the financial report covering the period from January 15 to June 30, 2024.
These two reports cover the management of the club by an interim committee during this period and provide an insight into the challenges and achievements of the club over the past season.
The moral report, presented at the meeting, highlighted the club’s sporting performances despite the difficulties encountered.
MAS has managed to maintain its position among the top teams in the national championship, thanks to the commitment of the players and the technical staff.
The document also highlights the successes of the youth teams, including the victory of the U15 team in an international tournament in Khemisset and the title of champion of the Fez-Meknes league.
On the financial front, the report revealed a deficit of 57,365.50 DH at the end of the provisional committee’s mandate. Total revenues amounted to 1,209,500 DH, with a significant share coming from sponsorship (70%).
Expenditures reached 1,266,865 DH with a payroll which represented the majority of the charges (62%).
According to club officials, the election of a new president is of particular importance, especially since the association holds more than 30% of the capital of MAS SA, the public limited company that manages the professional football club.
While waiting for the appointment of the office members by the new president, several opportunities for improvement present themselves for the coming months.
According to club officials, the priority areas include optimizing the financial structure of the association, improving the sporting performance of the first team, strengthening the training program for young talents, modernizing the club’s infrastructure, as well as developing ties with supporters and the local community of Fez.
