HIBAPRESS – Sport
Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football, confirmed that the continental football body has begun taking practical measures to avoid a repeat of the scenario of teams withdrawing, as happened in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
New measures to avoid a repeat of the crisis
The HIBAPRESS website asked the CAF president about the measures that will be taken to avoid a repeat of the withdrawals in other matches after the matter was repeated in some matches since the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, and he replied that "CAF" has already approved a number of changes after the incident, pointing out that what happened was not expected even by legal experts, which prompted the drawing of lessons and the taking of corrective decisions.
Legal and structural amendments are expected
The CAF president added that some amendments will be presented to the general assembly, which includes 54 national federations, while others will be adopted at the executive level, with the aim of strengthening regulatory laws and avoiding any future imbalances.
Optimism about the future of African football
Motsepe concluded his statements by confirming that the African Union is making important progress on this file, expressing his confidence that African football will become more organized and stronger during the coming period.
