HIBAPRESS
The "Matrix" team, founded by the LOOP For Science & Technology organization in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and the US Embassy in Morocco, is preparing to participate in the prestigious "Başkent FRC Tournament" expected in the Turkish capital, Ankara, between April 10 and 12, 2026.
This participation is a historic event, as it represents the first presence of Morocco and the Arab world in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), which is considered the highest category in the field of robotics globally. After months of intensive preparation within the "Robots & More Academy," and with a work methodology inspired by the world of startups, 30 students from the team members are preparing to compete against an international elite, through an advanced industrial robot that they designed and programmed themselves. In this context, Leila Barshan, President of the LOOP For Science & Technology organization, confirmed that this participation represents the culmination of a long journey of hard work, stressing that the team embodies the spirit of leadership and innovation among Moroccan youth, and reflects their ability to excel in the global technological arena. For her part, Ilham Laaziz, director of the GENIE program at the Ministry of National Education, expressed the Ministry's pride in supporting this initiative, which falls within the strategy to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) pathways, considering that the participation of Moroccan students for the first time in this global event is an important step towards modernizing the educational system through innovation and practice. The LOOP For Science & Technology organization and the Ministry of National Education also expressed their gratitude to all the partners who contributed to the realization of this project, including the US Embassy in Morocco, Royal Air Maroc, as well as a number of institutional and economic actors who accompanied the team. In the same context, Ilham Bekkari, General Manager of "Pesage Promotion" company, confirmed that supporting the "Matrix" team falls within the framework of encouraging excellence and keeping pace with a generation capable of representing Morocco, the Arab world, and Africa in international forums in the best possible way.
