French coach Hervé Renard announced that he has been dismissed from coaching the Saudi Arabian national football team, without clarifying the reasons for this decision, two months before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
In a telephone call with the "Agence France-Presse," Renard commented: "This is football… Saudi Arabia has qualified for the World Cup seven times, including twice under my leadership. I am the only coach who played the qualifiers and the World Cup with the national team in the 2022 edition, and this remains a source of pride for me."
This decision comes as the Saudi national team prepares to participate in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where the draw placed them in Group H alongside Spain, Cape Verde, and Uruguay.
