Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open to all commercial vessels throughout the remaining period of the ceasefire, in line with the ceasefire in Lebanon. US President Donald Trump quickly welcomed this step by Iran.
Araghchi added in a post on the X platform that the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz will be via the coordinated route as already announced by the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization.
Araghchi did not specify for which deadline he was speaking. An agreement for a two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States came into effect on the night of April 7-8, while the ceasefire in Lebanon began on the night of Thursday to Friday, for a period of 10 days.
