HIBAPRESS – Al Hoceima
Al Hoceima witnessed a serious traffic accident on Thursday evening, which almost turned into a tragedy, in the Mirador Al A'la district near the Mohammed VI mosque, in one of the steepest inclines in the city.
According to consistent data, the truck driver lost the ability to brake while trying to go uphill, before the situation changed suddenly, as the truck began to reverse at high speed, causing a state of panic among road users and residents of the neighborhood. The driver tried to avoid the worst by directing the truck towards the walls to reduce the damage, where it first collided with a wall before continuing its momentum until it stopped after colliding with an old house. In scenes described as a "miracle", a number of people miraculously survived the accident, as a school bus driver rushed to reverse immediately after noticing the truck, and the driver of a black car was able to avoid the collision at the last moment, while a person who was on board the truck jumped seconds before the accident and survived without injuries. Despite the material damage to the truck and some neighboring houses, no loss of life was recorded, which brought great relief to the residents. A number of citizens demanded the need for local authorities to intervene to put up road signs to prevent trucks from going up this dangerous obstacle, to avoid the recurrence of such accidents in the future.
