In the corners of the old city of Marrakesh, where the details of daily life mix with the simplicity of the place and the depth of human relationships, a different story was formed for a child whose path was not paved with ease, but he found someone to open the doors for him when circumstances closed them. It is the story of Reda Ishtiya, which is not only read as an individual success, but as a living model that reflects possible transformations in our understanding of education and integration.
Reda, who faced difficulties in speaking, communicating, and learning since his early years, was not an exception in a reality experienced by a number of children who find themselves outside the traditional educational system. However, what distinguished this experience is the way this challenge was dealt with within his family, away from the logic of surrender or waiting.
At the heart of this story stands Souad Khouya, a primary school teacher, who read her son's suffering as a sign of the necessity of action, not as a final judgment. And with the passage of time, the results began to appear, not only at the level of speech, but in the ability to understand, express, and engage.
Perhaps the irony that carries many connotations is that Reda found himself more in harmony with the English language, which he acquired spontaneously through his daily environment, while the traditional educational path remained less able to keep pace with his development. Which re-raises the issue of linguistic diversity and the flexibility of choices within the educational system.
However, the real transformation in this story did not stop at the limits of saving a child's path, but extended to establish a new professional and human path for the mother. Souad Khouya chose to transform her personal experience into a practical commitment, so she entered the field of inclusive education, to keep pace with other children facing the same challenges, and provide real support to families living the same anxiety.
In this sense, the story is no longer just the story of Reda, but the story of an entire category of children who suffer in silence, whose voices need someone to convey them, and whose experiences need someone to understand them. In this context, Reda's involvement in the Children's Parliament was a symbolic culmination of a long path, and a transition from the position of the recipient to the position of the actor.
Today, Reda stands as one of the models that confirms that integration is not a slogan, but a daily practice that requires will, training, and a nurturing environment. His story also shows that the family, when it possesses awareness and tools, can play a decisive role in redirecting paths.
The story of Reda Ishtiya is not only a success story, but an open invitation to rethink the way we look at children in difficult situations. Between the margin and the center, there is a distance that is not shortened in laws only, but in the true belief that every child has their place… if they find someone to give them the opportunity.
